I was walking home with my mom, after a hard day at school when I saw an interesting looking moth. My mom took a picture of the moth, then a few months later my dad and I saw another nice looking moth sitting on the front elevation of our house. This time my dad took numerous pictures of the moth which you can see here. After I finished cleaning my dad’s car we did some little research on the internet to find out the two types of moths recorded by me so far. The result was quite interesting. We found out that the moth on my house was an angle shades moth and the moth seen with my mom was thought to be extinct before World War 2 and is called small ranunculus moth. The ranunculus moth is back and the first sightings were recorded in the 90’s. Coincidentally my dad had an idea to make a moth trap to gather more data about the moth population around our garden. We checked on the internet for some standard moth trap design and concluded that the project is feasible. I decided to start the project in SketchUp.
The next stage is to build the real thing.
